Ant..what? Antwerp! Kai was so excited about his first ever visit to Belgium. He loves seeing new places and Belgium has always been on his bucket list! Some of Kai’s favorite treats are Belgian, particularly the amazing chocolates and the occasional tipple of good Belgian ale.
He was very eager to see the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, one of the most important fashion schools in Europe. Antwerp is on the cutting edge of fashion, and some world-renowned designers like Ann Demeulemeester and Dries Van Noten are graduates of the academy. In the late 1800s, Vincent Van Gogh was a student there.
Kai decided to do a bit more sight seeing, and headed to Groenplaats, the “Green Place”. It is one of Antwerp’s most prominent squares, located in the heart of the city’s historic district. He stopped to admire this statue of Sir Peter Paul Rubens, the highly celebrated Baroque painter.
It was getting very cold and had started to snow, but Kai didn’t seem to mind at all! He insisted on remaining on this bench near the statue, taking in the scenery of tourists and locals enjoying the many cute cafes and restaurants surrounding the square.
This is Kai’s last known location in Antwerp. Doesn’t it look chilly? We hope some koi friends in Belgium will scoop him up, and help him find his way home.
